Awards season officially kicks off on Sunday, with the 75th Golden Globe Awards. This year — apart from honoring the best in film and television — the annual ceremony will also be protesting sexual harassment and misconduct in Hollywood in a unique manner.
Many actors and actresses (including Meryl Streep, Jessica Chastain and Emma Stone) will be donning black ensembles to stand in solidarity with sexual harassment victims and those who have been treated unfairly in Hollywood. After a slew of sexual misconduct allegations were made public in 2017, women in the entertainment industry are taking a stand and joining forces to make their voices heard.
As the city of stars prepares for the big night, ET is gathering up a handful of designer gowns from the latest collections that could be spotted on the red carpet.
Dior
Among the gowns that will likely make an appearance on the red carpet are artistic director’s Maria Grazia Chiuri’s designs that perfectly capture the essence of a bold and elegant woman who isn’t afraid to say what’s on her mind.
Oscar de la Renta
For those opting to wear a chic suit, Oscar de la Renta has a tasteful velvet piece that can be dressed up for the occasion. Meanwhile, the fashion house also has delicate and detailed princess-like gowns that will make an elegant statement.
Christian Siriano
The Project Runway winner’s latest collections have an option for every actress that will strut on the red carpet. His exquisite designs pack a powerful punch with high slits, over-the-top detailing, or an added minimal touch of color to an all-black frock.
Isabel Sanchis
It wouldn’t be far-fetched to see a Golden Globe nominee turn heads in this black silk frill-layered flared gown from Isabel Sanchis. The evening gown not only sends a powerful message but also a grandiose fashion statement.
Valentino
The Italian maison’s latest styles were filled with long, draped designs, as well as decorative lace and sequined dresses that feature exquisite craftsmanship like the one below from the Fall/Winter 2017 collection. A major star that we can picture arriving in Valentino is Nicole Kidman.
Giambattista Valli
For those seeking a fairy tale-inspired ensemble, look to Giambattista Valli’s Haute Couture selections. This over-the-top, balletic full skirt gown may be a show-stopper on Golden Globe night.
Brandon Maxwell
Simple yet sophisticated are the results you will get with a Brandon Maxwell creation. From body-hugging beauties to full and playful designs, the actresses could send a major message with these understated styles.
Elie Saab
Ethereal and romantic designs by the Lebanese designer could likely whisk by on the red carpet on Sunday night. The brand is known for its artful and shimmering features that contain beading, sequins, feathers and all sorts of gorgeous detailing.
Michael Kors
A handful of starlets will likely step out in custom Michael Kors or choose from his latest collections that exuded elegance and pizzazz. Expect sequins, shimmer and shine from the American designer’s creations and the ladies that will don his ensembles.
Versace
Be on the lookout for sexy and flirty styles from Versace to grace the Golden Globes red carpet and stage. Among the celebs that could show up in Donatella’s sultry creations are Penelope Cruz, Margot Robbie, Heidi Klum and Halle Berry.
We can also expect stunning custom pieces from Monique Lhuillier, Halpern, Carolina Herrera, Zac Posen and Louis Vuitton, among others.
The 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Seth Meyers, will be handed out live on Sunday, Jan. 7, starting at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
