Grande, whose much anticipated fourth studio set Sweetener dropped at midnight, was scheduled to perform a comedy sketch to promote her new album, but instead opened the show with the emotional performance.
Ariana stuck around for a chat with Fallon and an early preview of the new album. During their Q&A, Fallon asked Ariana about her fiance Pete Davidson and played the song which carries his name. «He got in so much trouble on your show,» she confessed. Ari also recounted how their love blossomed. «We met on SNL two or three years ago,» she admitted. «I had the biggest crush on him the whole time.» She knew it was love way back then. «I jokingly said to my tour manager, ‘I’m going to marry him.'» So that’s that. Grande also gave an impromptu performance of one of her faves from the album, «R.E.M.» Watch below.
