DJ Snake switches it up on new single, “Broken Summer.” An unusually mellow (and melancholy) banger about the changing of seasons, the Frenchman’s latest single is missing his signature drop and bone-rattling beats. This track is more concerned with establishing a vibe and it does that effortlessly. “Pulling on my sweatshirt, looking at your picture, ’cause that broken summer’s hanging over me,” Max Frost (you might remember him from the underrated “White Lies”) sings. “Drowning in the sunshine, and I spend a long time thinking girl, you got the best of me.”
“Broken Summer” follows DJ Snake’s recently-released “A Different Way.” The collaboration with LAUV has already racked up 27 million streams — a number that should climb dramatically when the Colin Tilley-directed video drops. (It is currently being filmed in Los Angeles). The DJ has an incredible track record of churning out hits and this is shaping up to be another blockbuster addition to his discography. While we wait for that video to arrive, check out the hitmaker’s latest bop below.
