Camila Cabello’s debut solo single arrives on May 5. At least, according to a tweet from US Weekly writer Nick Hautman. That fits in with the timeline she proposed in a recent interview with Fault magazine. “I hope to release my first few songs before summer and then go from there and hopefully an album in the fall,” the 20-year-old revealed. While details about the single are scant, the former Fifth Harmony diva has had sessions with Ryan Tedder, Diplo, Kuk Harrell, Stargate and Benny Blanco. In other words, expect a hit.
“But even when I feel so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of my former group, expressing myself as an artist became a necessity,” Camila said of her decision to go solo. The best part of her new journey? “Working with so many talented writers and producers and following my own musical vision,” she enthuses. “I love the ability to create something out of nothing altogether.” The singer has already tested the waters of solo stardom with features on Machine Gun Kelly’s “Bad Things” and Pitbull & J Balvin’s “Hey Ma.” Time will tell if she can carry a song on her own.
