Carrie Underwood and Ludacris teamed up with a bevy of inspiring individuals for their action-packed “The Champion” video. The unlikely twosome rolled out their anthem earlier this year, and today (March 2), they got back together in the visual. Over the track’s swelling production they announce their dedication to seeing any challenge through. “I’ll be the last one standing. Two hands in the air, I’m a champion,” Carrie boldly proclaims on the opening lines. It was an unexpected bop with an uplifting message, and their video is equally impressive.
In it they highlight a variety of champions from different walks of life. Including historic footage of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Muhammad Ali, they contrast those with modern champions including soldiers, athletes, first responders and students. It is poignant to see that they also included the heroes of the future as they highlighted a group of a children who will go on to shape the world. Carrie and Ludacris appear in various scenes as well. Both of the hitmakers are featured laying down vocals in the recording studio, and the “Before He Cheats” siren is also seen working on her fitness in a variety of cuts.
As the track comes to a conclusion, it showcases the sheer number of incredible individuals who have led inspiring lives. Bold and overflowing with energy, “The Champion” may be one of the biggest surprises of 2018. Its video is a refreshing reminder of exactly how much people can accomplish with hard work and dedication, and it will hopefully propel the track up the charts. With any luck, it will storm the Billboard Hot 100 and net the pair another massive hit. Check out the inspiring video up top!
