Drake brought dad dancing to the masses in his iconic “Hotline Bling” video, but Charlie Puth makes awkward choreography an artform in “How Long” — grooving up the side of a building. He even shows off some fancy footwork while suspended in mid-air like Pink at an awards show. According to the pop star, this is the first time he felt confident enough to step outside his comfort zone and do something (literally) off the wall. Think ’80 Michael Jackson with a great sense of humor.
Co-written with Jacob Kasher and Justin Franks, “How Long” is another self-produced banger that dabbles in disco and electro-R&B. It’s also the lyrical flip side to “Attention” with the 25-year-old apologizing for cheating. “How long has this been going on?” Charlie sings from his girlfriend’s perspective on the chorus. “You’ve been creeping ’round on me while you’re calling me baby.” And like his previous bop, “How Long” is shaping up to be a smash (it’s already the most-added song on pop radio). Watch up top and pre-order his sophomore LP, Voicenotes, here. It drops January 19.
