Eminem recruited a slew of famous faces to appear on his ninth studio album, Revival. He managed a surprise feature with Beyonce on the project’s lead single, “Walk On Water” and delivered an unexpected collaboration with Ed Sheeran on the riveting album track “River.” But that is not all. Out today (December 15), the LP also includes duets with Pink, Alicia Keys and Kehlani.
The “Lose Yourself” rapper teams up with Pink on “Need Me,” a swelling ode to a toxic relationship that is one of the strongest offerings from the album. “You’re drunk. The coffee is burned. I hate to find you like this; I always find you like this,” the Beautiful Trauma siren laments over a delicate production. As frustrated as she is, she finds herself unable to move on.
“Some nights I want to run for the hills. It’s never easy with you. I cannot reason with you, but your smile is as rare as it comes,” she sings, realizing that they both need each other to survive. For his part, Eminem is equally caught up in their frenzied romance. “But God must have aligned the stars for us. ‘Cause somebody paired us up, and they say he ain’t capable of making a mistake,” he raps.
This marks the duo’s third collaboration, and it is easily their most evocative. They teamed up on the hard-edged “Won’t Back Down” in 2010 and reunited on Pink’s equally barbed “Revenge” earlier this year. Here they capitalize on their easy chemistry, and the result is something truly heartrending. Hopefully the track will get pushed as an official single at some point. Until then give it a spin below!
