A titanic beauty spreads a macabre wave of horror! A terrifying masterpiece of shock and chills!
Lana Del Rey is literally a huge star in the mind-warping video for her cover of Sublime’s «Doin’ Time.»
The Rich Lee-helmed clip that dropped on Thursday (Aug. 29) pays homage to the schlocky 1958 Nathan Hertz-directed drive-in cult classic Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, with a gigantic LDR walking across L.A. plucking palm tress out of the ground like blades of grass, taking sips from water towers, stepping gingerly over freeways and checking her lipstick in office tower windows.
The long-awaited visual for the hazy cover slated for inclusion on the singer’s Norman Fucking Rockwell! album, due out tomorrow (Aug. 30), comes a week after Rey released the Lee-directed clips for «Fuck it, I love you» and «The Greatest.»
When we rejoin the action, a gigantic LDR crouches down to take a dip in the ocean. The scene shifts to an acutal drive-in, where a blonde Lana leans on a vintage 1950s car and waits for her boyfriend to grab her some snacks, only find him making out with another woman. The video features an extended orchestral interlude where massive LDR does a balletic dance on the beach and blasts sand at the drive-in denizens, before stepping off the screen to teach the cheating chump a lesson.
