Lady Gaga is putting in the time behind the scenes to make sure her new studio album is filled with hits. She confirmed that she began working on a follow-up to 2016’s Joanne in an August interview with Entertainment Weekly and has since been seen in the studio with frequent collaborator DJ White Shadow. The pair have crafted frenetic hits together including “Born This Way,” “Edge of Glory” and “Applause.” More recently, they worked together on Mother Monster’s EDM-laced Coachella anthem “The Cure.” Yesterday (April 18), she seems to have confirmed that she added a new name to the list of producers on the highly anticipated LG6: German producer Boys Noize.
The producer and DJ took to Twitter to announce Gaga had an in-studio mishap and confirmed a collaboration in the process. “Lady Gaga spilled water over my modular system,” he tweeted. Not to be outdone, the 32-year-old pointed out that she saved the day. “But then I resurrected it with a blow dryer it was a christening,” she announced. Adding to the growing excitement, Boys Noize confirmed that the modular system “spit out beautiful weirdness” after it came back to life. Fans are assuming this is an allusion to a new hit they worked on together.
It seems more likely every day that the pop icon will be leaving behind the Americana-inspired sound that inspired Joanne in favor of a return to her sparkling pop roots. Since unveiling a stripped back take on the album’s title track earlier this year, she has shown off her impeccable vocals on a cover of Elton John’s timeless “Your Song.”With any luck, she and Boys Noize have something hot together.
