It appears the newest members of the Carter family might be named Rumi and Sir.
JAY-Z and Beyonce’s company — which owns the trademarks to their names — filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office earlier this week to secure rights to the names Rumi Carter and Sir Carter, according to documents obtained by People.
The same company filed papers for the name Blue Ivy, the couple’s 5-year-old daughter, earlier this year.
TMZ also reported the legal documents were submitted Monday (June 26), just after the newborns, reportedly a boy and a girl, were released from the hopital.
Rumi is the name of a noted 13th century Persian poet.
The trademarks are for fragrances, cosmetics, key chains, baby gear, mugs, water bottles, playing cards, tote bags, sports balls and other items.
On Friday (June 30), JAY-Z released his new album, 4:44.
Alongside other deeply personal lyrics, the title track suggests the twins were conceived naturally: “I apologize, often womanize/ Took for my child to be born/ See through a woman’s eyes/ Took for these natural twins to believe in miracles/ Took me too long for this song/ I don’t deserve you.”
