Well, this is a little awkward. BTS officially announced their collaboration with The Chainsmokers on the same day that the EDM duo came under fire for making an offensive joke about Asians. (In case you missed the drama, Alex Pall expressed concerns for the safety of his dog while visiting China). The “Closer” hitmakers have issued an apology and the Kings of K-Pop are obviously willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. Their collaboration is called “Best Of Me” and it features on the group’s new LP, Love Yourself.
The track was written by Chainsmokers member Drew Taggart and BTS rappers Rap Monster, Suga and J-Hope. “Best Of Me” is sure to be one of the most talked-about songs on the album, which is already shaping up to be a blockbuster. According to Billboard, there have already been more than 1.05 million pre-orders. If American fans contribute as little as five percent to that total, it would still be enough to guarantee a top 10 debut on the Billboard 200. A feat that would be a first for a K-Pop act and cement BTS’ status as global superstars.
The album drops September 18 and comes in four different formats L, O, V and E. Watch their latest promo video called “Serendipity” below.
