One Direction may have gone on an indefinite hiatus after releasing 2015’s Made in the A.M., but that doesn’t mean the group will never get back together. Not if Liam Payne has his way at least. The “Strip That Down”crooner assured fans that he would like to work with his bandmates again during an interview with BuzzFeed. The budding solo star sat down with three puppies up for adoption at North Shore Animal League and answered questions in what may be one of the year’s most adorable moments.
“I think we will be reunited at some point in the future,” he said about the band. “We have to. I mean, we have an album that we haven’t even toured yet, and I want to write some more songs with the boys.” Liam expressed appreciation for the work that his bandmates have explored since going their own ways including Harry Style’s foray into acting in the Christopher Nolan-directed Dunkirk, which premiered last month. He also expressed a desire to work with Zayn Malik again in the future because they have a similar musical aesthetic.
While discussing his own forthcoming project the “Get Low” hitmaker revealed some insightful information about the process of recording as a solo artist and hinted at the sonic direction of his LP. “You have to look a lot inside yourself for inspiration,” he said of recording on his own as opposed to working with a group. That inspiration has driven the project in a variety of directions, and he promised that the LP would include a handful of ballads alongside more hip hop and dance driven tracks. When asked to describe the album in three words, he confidently proclaimed “my favorite songs.”
The confidence seems to be well founded. His debut single has charted in the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 and shows promise of rising higher in the coming weeks. The album will also see him teaming up with high profile producers such as Pharrell Williams, Ryan Tedder and Zedd, all of who are more than capable of delivering another hit. Liam also discussed dream collaborators (Nicki Minaj, and she may or may not make it onto his album), favorite tattoos and favorite memories from touring with 1D. Check out the adorable interview up top!
