Pink is a ’60s housewife with an edge in the rainbow bright music video for her new single, “Beautiful Trauma.” The title track to her seventh LP is a soaring rock ballad about a passionate relationship filled with highs and lows. The visual follows a similar storyline. Released today (November 21), she and Channing Tatum play the roles of Ginger and Fred Hart, a married couple who revitalize their marriage by breaking all the rules.
Directed and choreographed by Nick Florez and RJ Durell (collectively known as the Goldenboyz), the couple struggles to maintain a perfect facade in their vibrant home. Although they attempt to live up to traditional values, the end result is not as ideal as expected. Turning to pills and alcohol, they timidly dance around and engage in a series of stilted interactions.
That all changes as they realize there is beauty in being themselves and bucking expectations. After she finds her husband in a dress, the pair develop a much more comfortable relationship. It is only then that both of them truly come to life. The end result is quintessentially Pink and features some excellent dance sequences while vibrating with rebellious undertones.
Although “What About Us” is still sitting comfortably in the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100, Pink’s latest is sure to soar even higher. Sunday (November 19) she delivered a jaw-dropping and gravity-defying performance of the song at the American Music Awards. Coupled with the visual, she is bound to have another hit on her hands.
