Things are looking up for Rita Ora. The Brit’s current single, “Your Song,” has been a top 20 in just about every territory except the US and she’s putting the finishing touches on her sophomore album (due in early 2018). The pop star also lends her voice to Avicii’s “Lonely Together” — one of the highlights of the Swedish DJ’s comeback EP. In fact, the melancholy bop is probably the best things Rita has done since “I Will Never Let You Down” and really should be rolled out as a single.
The 26-year-old had previously performed a semi-acoustic version of the song at an event in London, but Avicii’s dreamy electronic production lifts it to another level. “It’s you and your world and I’m caught in the middle, I caught the edge of a knife and it hurts just a little,” Rita begins the track over driving synths. The diva realizes that the relationship is over, but can’t quite let go. “I might hate myself tomorrow, but I’m on my way tonight,” she sings on the chorus. “Let’s be lonely together.” Listen below.
