Taylor Swift recently was honored on the Time 100 list, and in an interview with Time, she named three things that influence her. The first influence she mentioned was Tumblr, the social media blogging platform that the songstress is constantly on, following her fans, responding and even sometimes posting recipes. «It’s like a window into what my fans are going through,» she explained. They post about their lives, they post about what they’re into, they post about what they think is cool, what they think is unjust or problematic. And they basically are very, very expressive and it makes me feel like I can know them better.»
She also discussed Paul McCartney and his extensive career. «I really like it when you go and see a show and you want to hear the songs that you loved. You want all that old, iconic, classic stuff. I like it when a performer knows that and will give that to their fans, rather than being like, ‘No, I’m only playing this new project.’ I think that you got to be respectful of what people want, and I just think that’s really cool.»
«I also really like his new music too,» she added. «He’s still got it. Really love Paul McCartney.» McCartney recently told BBC that «Who Cares?» off his latest album was actually inspired by Swift. “I was actually thinking about Taylor Swift and her relationship to her young fans and how it’s sort of a sisterly thing. And I was imagining talking to one of these young fans and saying, ‘Have you ever been bullied? Do you get bullied?’ Then I say, ‘Who cares about the idiots? Who cares about all this? Who cares about you? Well… I do.'» Lastly, and possibly the least surprising, Swift said that cats have helped shape her. «They’re just a real joy to live with,» she explained before discussing how she quickly accepted a role in the upcoming Cats movie.
