Taylor Swift is a late addition to the New Music Friday lineup with a feature on Sugarland’s new single. The track is called “Babe” and was originally intended for the superstar’s Red album. It was co-written with Train singer Patrick Monahan and is said to be about an ex-boyfriend. How did the collaboration come about? “She was gracious enough to reach out to us when she heard we were coming back together and doing a record,” Kristian Bush (half of the country duo) told ET.
“She said, ‘I have a song, would you like to do it?’ And we said, ‘Uh, yeah!’ I was a little anxious. I didn’t want to mess it up!” Not that it was a throwaway. “She loved it and wanted [us] to be a part of it, which is exciting,” Jennifer Nettles added. “She said, ‘I have a song,’ and we said, ‘OK. Send it over.’” I’m here for this. Red was a brilliant era and I still prefer the hitmaker in country-pop mode. See Sugarland’s announcement below. The duet drops tonight at 9pm PT.
