Their first album titled Dead Man’s Bones was released on October 6, 2009 under Anti-Records, featuring a somber children’s choir. Pitchfork described the records as being «a truly unusual and surprising record.» Gosling continued to demonstrate his musical prowess in the film La La Land where he sang, danced, and learned to play the jazz piano in just three months.
