His first two albums might’ve topped the Billboard 200 and he might’ve recently made his couple debut with model girlfriend Hailey Baldwin, but Shawn Mendes isn’t immune to feeling a little bit nervous. He admits so in his latest toe-tapping song, «Nervous,» which dropped Wednesday (May 23).
The singer/songwriter states it simply in the singalong-worthy chorus: «I get a little bit nervous around you/Get a little bit stressed out when I think about you/Get a little excited, baby, when I think about you.» His falsettos soar over the upbeat love jam’s twiddling guitar riffs and escalating, thumping bass lines — the recipe for a joyous dance party that simultaneously reminds us Mendes is somehow just a normal 19-year-old, despite his stacked resume of accomplishments.
«Nervous» will appear on Mendes’ self-titled third studio album, which will arrive Friday (May 25). The track follows previous singles «In My Blood,» «Lost In Japan,» «Youth» featuring Khalid and «Where Were You In the Morning?»
