«You did not deserve to be shamed by this monster,» the singer said referring to the GOP presidential candidate.
Kesha is the latest star to come to the defense of former Miss Universe Alicia Machado, who was dragged into the presidential contest on Monday night when Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton slammed opponent Donald Trump for his denigrating comments about the beauty queen. «He called this woman Miss Piggy, then he called her Miss Housekeeping because she’s Latina,» Clinton said near the end of the debate. «Donald, she has a name. Her name is Alicia Machado, and she has become a US citizen — and you can bet she is going to vote this November.»
That spurred Kesha — who is still locked in a legal battle with her former mentor/producer Dr. Luke over allegations that he sexually and emotionally abused her — to defend Machado while take a hard line against Trump. «I want to give my support and respect to you, Alicia. You did not deserve to be shamed by this monster,» Kesha wrote in an Instagram post entitled «Shamed and Angry: Alicia Machado, a Miss Universe Mocked by Donald Trump,» which featured a photo of the model. «Your body is NO ONE else’s business. Donald Trump said that your body or weight was an issue (which makes me so sad and just sick). but, I find the real problem here being his bloated, arrogant ego and offensive, racist, misogynist verbal diarrhea. he is a bully.»

Echoing the «facts matter» comments recently made by Barbra Streisand in aHuffington Post essay by proclaiming «words mean something,» Kesha continued, «And [they] can be extremely hurtful and dangerous. They stay deep inside you and can affect your emotional and mental health. I know this from personal experience. They are hard, and sometimes impossible, to ever forget.»
Machado was crowned Miss Universe at age 19 in 1996, the year Trump took over as co-owner of the Miss Universe Organization. The ’96 contest was co-hosted by Trump’s then-wife, Marla Maples. After she was crowned, Miss Venezuela said, she gained 42 pounds and claimed Trump referred to her as «Miss Piggy» and «Miss Housekeeping,» the latter referencing her accent.
The billionaire businessman doubled-down on his criticism of Machado during campaign appearances on Wednesday, telling Fox News, «she did not do well. She had a lot of difficulty, and, you know, they wanted to fire her. The company itself wanted to fire her. I saved her job.» Those comments came after Trump said in an interview on Tuesday that Machado «was the worst we ever had. She was the winner and she gained a massive amount of weight, and it was a real problem. We had a real problem with her.»
