Plus, chart action for Dillon Francis, Alessia Cara & Jonas Blue.
Empire of the Sun scores its first leader on Billboard‘s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart (dated Nov. 19), as Two Vines debuts with 8,000 copies sold in the week ending Nov. 3, according to Nielsen Music. In July 2013, the Australian duo (Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore) debuted at a prior No. 2 best with its first entry, Ice on the Dune, although that album more than doubled the sales of the new set in its first week (17,000 copies).
The new release’s «High and Low» lifts 20-16 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart, and returns to Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales at No. 25 (2,000 downloads sold, up 70 percent).
On Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, Garrix’s «In the Name of Love,» with Bebe Rexha, lifts 7-6, hitting a new peak and earning top Airplay Gainer honors (15 million all-format radio audience impressions, up 37 percent). (The collab is not included on Garrix’s new EP.)
FRANCIS, CARA CLIMB: Dillon Francis flies to the Dance/Mix Show Airplay top 10 with «Anywhere,» featuring Will Herd (13-7). It’s the second top 10 for the DJ, following his Sultan & Ned Shepard team-up «When We Were Young,» featuring The Chain Gang of 1974 (No. 6, January 2015).
Additionally on Dance/Mix Show Airplay, Alessia Cara surges into the top 10 in only her third week with «Scars to Your Beautiful» (17-10). It’s Cara’s second top 10 among three appearances, all in 2016, following «Here» (No. 3, January); «Wild Things» reached No. 20 in June. Originally a midtempo track, «Scars» benefits from remixes by Cages and Luca Schreiner, among others. The song also soars 30-24 for a new high on the Billboard Hot 100.
JONAS BLUE CONQUERS CLUBS: Jonas Blue blasts to No. 1 on Dance Club Songs with «Perfect Strangers,» featuring JP Cooper (2-1). It’s the second leader for the U.K. DJ (and the first for singer Cooper), following his Dakota-assisted reinvention of Tracy Chapman’s 1988 folk/pop hit «Fast Car» (April 9). Remixes from Pedro Carrilho, Kue and Jerome Price, among others, helped «Strangers» introduce itself to the summit.
