Pop music fans rejoice! Katy Perry has reunited with Swede-pop mastermind Max Martin. The 33-year-old is currently touring Europe on the latest leg of Witness: The Tour. She touched down in Stockholm over the weekend, and while she was there she managed to link up with the writer and producer responsible for some of her biggest hits. In a video posted on Instagram, she shared some footage of the two together. “So I’m in Sweden with the very reclusive Max Martin. But this is the only time I’ll put him on camera because he is the kind of Sweden,” the violet-haired hitmaker said. It is unclear if the duo managed to make it to a studio, but hopefully they are working together on material for a follow-up to last year’s Witness.
It is heavily rumored that Katy is planning on dropping a new album at some point this year. The project is still shrouded in mystery, but we have a few snippets of information that offer some insight. Capitol CEO Steve Barnett hinted at a new project during a Q&A with Variety earlier this year. Around the same time, it was rumored that the hitmaker was scheduled to hit the studio with Steve Mac. During an interview while on-set for American Idol, Katy also voiced interest in collaborating with Lady Gaga. Hopefully, they are able to hit the studio together for a bop.
However, the news of a potential Max Martin collaboration is the most promising yet. He has worked with Katy on many of her biggest hits including “Teenage Dream,” “California Girls,” “Wide Awake” and her breakout anthem “I Kissed A Girl.” He also acted as an executive producer on Witness and was involved in the fan-favored “Hey Hey Hey” and other tracks including lead single “Chained To The Rhythm.” Check out the footage from their reunion here and revisit “Teenage Dream” below!
