Ricky Martin is trading in «la vida loca» and will soon prepare for a life with his soon-to-be husband Jwan Yosef. During an appearance on The Ellen Degeneresshow on Tues. (Nov. 15), the Latin singer announced that he proposed to his boyfriend of more than a year and shared how the engagement took place.
DeGeneres wasted no time interrogating the singer about his love asking, «Where does he live? And how long have you know him? And how did you meet?,» but despite being put in the hot seat, Martin maintained his cool. «He’s a conceptual artist and I’m a collector so I started looking for art and I saw his art and I went crazy…and then I contacted him,» he told the curious host. «And then you collected him,» DeGeneres joked.
After sheepishly announcing his engagement, Martin revealed that he was the one to do the proposing. Admitting that he was «really nervous,» Martin said popping the question wasn’t as easy as he’d imagined. «Instead of saying, ‘Would you marry me?’ I said ‘I got you something.'» Clearly it all worked out for the singer in the end. «He said yes.»
Martin’s engagement wasn’t the only major news of the day. The singer also announced his new residency in Las Vegas’ Park Theater at Monte Carlo, joining past musicians Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and more recently the Backstreet Boys. «I’m really happy,» he told the crowd. «You’re all invited, did I just say that?»
