The Chainsmokers and Halsey’s smash dance-pop duet «Closer» has been so ubiquitous these last few months — the entirety of which they’ve spent on top the Billboard Hot 100 — that you might not have realized it didn’t even have a video yet. But as of today (Oct. 24), the song is lacking a visual no longer, with the collaboration’s official clip finally dropping on VEVO.
The video is about what you’d expect for such an emotionally loaded pop song: a whole lot of Halsey and co-Smoker Drew Taggart singing at one another, while cutaways flash back (and possibly forward) to tell the dramatic arc of their relationship. There’s a great deal of making out in various states of undress, there’s a mattress with the sheet torn off the cover, and there’s Halsey looking pretty in what is presumably a hotel bar. (No Blink-182 cameo, though, sadly — must’ve been busy on their own recent video shoot.)
Watch the clip here, and prepare for the reign of «Closer» to stretch well into November.
